The “Cooperation Union of Venue Owners for Male Health in C
On October 12th 2008, under the support of UNDP, ILO, the volunteer committee of the Chinese AIDS Association, initiators of the Cooperation Union of Vennue owners for Male Health from 3 provincial capital cities and 9 surrounding cities, directors of 4 homosexual websites, together with conference observors including delegates of UNDP, the Chinese AIDS associations, the Suzhou CDC and relevant experts, gathered at Zhi Yuan Hotel of Suzhou city, and discussed the establishment of The Cooperation Union of Vennue owners for Male Health in MSM HIV/AIDS prevention.
Attendants entitled the GHE to hold the conference and submit related contexts for discussion.
After long and ardent debates, with respect to the functional and tactical differences existing in MSM community mobilization, HIV/AIDS intervention, and work orientation, therefore it was not considered as the right time to formulate a common cooperation mechanism.
In order to avoid divergence to expand, according to the suggestion of participants, currently it seemed possible to set up a industrial cooperation system for Venue Owners and Operators participation into MSM HIV/AIDS prevention, but whether to have a similar one among homosexual websites should be left to those concerned to negotiate and make a final decision by themselves. Meanwhile every relevant side should provide these websites with moral, technical and resourceful support, to meet their cooperative need.
Thereafter, initiators of the Venue Owners and Operators cooperation mechanism discussed its institutional structure in MSM HIV/AIDS prevention, and achieved constructive consensus to denominate it the “Cooperation Union of Vennue owners for Male Health “The conference elected a temporarily executive committee and coordinators in charge of daily business for the Cooperation Union. And after the voting, a series of solutions were reached regarding the CU’s fundamental construction.
