On October 29th 2008, the chief expert of the BJHEI, Mr.Tong Ge, and vice director Mr.Zhou Peng joined a seminar with Mrs.Edwin.Cameron, a famous global advocator for HIV/AIDS prevention and control and a grand justice of life tenure in the South African Supreme Court, on the invitation of the Chinese representative office of the UNAIDS.
The seminar focused on the discrimination suffered by Chinese HIV infected persons. Different types of infected persons attended the seminar and actively expressed their own opinions.
Mr.Tong Ge explained, in his speech, current situation of domestic HIV/AIDS intervention amongst the MSM group, by means of typical cases, pointing out underlying problems such as the discrimination from the main-stream society both at home and abroad, the reluctance towards community organizations and consultation service, the absence of the protection regarding private rights of HIV infected persons and treatment/community/society consideration, etc.
