In the two-day training, Mr. Guo Yaqi gave instructions on the composition, methods and skills of participatory training. Using demonstrations, he also talked about communication skills and the roles of the condom in AIDS dissemination and behavioral intervention as well as how to use it. Instead of cramming, the training provided a relaxing environment, where attendees can interact with each other and learn from others.
Held successfully, the training will promote the roles of volunteers in community, especially in peer communications and improve training skills of groups and volunteers’ organizations. Leader of Sunshine Team from Xingtai, Hebei, who attended the kind of training for the first time, said, “Participatory training for peer educators is very helpful with its new style and interesting content. We’ll make efforts to master what we’ve learnt from the class and apply it to work in the future.”
